3-peat Rule

The 3-peat Rule was passed by the State of Texas to discourage students from repeating courses. PJC students who attempt a course with the same content for a third or more times will be charged a premium tuition rate of $50 per credit hour in addition to the cost per credit hour found on the tuition & fees schedule. This provision is described in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Rules (19 TAC Chapter 13, Subchapter F, §13.106 and §13.126) and Texas Education Code §54.014(f).

Tuition rates are subject to change by the Paris Junior College Board of Regents, and the $50 per credit cost for courses not eligible for state funding, such as three-time repeat courses and excess hour courses.

Hardship Waiver

A student may request a waiver of the 3-peat premium tuition rate on a showing of economic hardship. Students should contact the Business Office to request this waiver and to provide supporting documentation. This waiver applies only to the 3-peat premium rate and does not affect the excess-hours tuition rate described above.
