PJC Information Services Meeting the healthcare needs of the people of Lamar County while making a difference in their lives and contributing to the nursing profession are all standards met and exceeded by Paris Regional Medical Center Registered Nurse Judy Reese. Paris Junior College President Dr. Pamela Anglin presented the Lamar County Nurse of the Year Award to Reese on Nurses Day, May 6. “The 2008 Nurses Day theme is ‘Making a Difference’,” said Dr. Anglin after the presentation. “Mrs. Reese is a deserving recipient of this award on this day and after 28 years in the profession.” “Judy is compassionate and caring with the patients,” said Dr. Ed Clark, a pediatrician with Primary Care Associates of Paris. “She routinely receives patient compliments on the hospital satisfaction survey, and takes extra time at the bedside to ensure success in breastfeeding. Several of our education programs have survived because of Judy. She is a stalwart teacher of both the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding Education and is certified in all three areas.” Dr. Clark also recognized Judy’s colleagues, the nursing staff of PRMC Obstetrics and Nursery Units, for the excellent care they provide to patients. Physicians Eric Salzman and Cliff Scott were also present to offer congratulations, along with Judy’s husband Randy and daughter Alison, who helped make the award a complete surprise to Reese. In all about 50 friends, family and co-workers were in attendance at the event. Established by the Paris Junior College School of Nursing, The Lamar County Nurse of the Year award honors and recognizes rank and file nurses who do their best each day to meet the healthcare needs of the people in our community. The event was co-sponsored by Sanofi-Aventis, PRMC, Chapman’s Florist and PJC. |
