Posted or edited: 05.08.08 ... PJC Information Services More than 450 candidates have applied for graduation on Friday, May 9, at Paris Junior College. Commencement exercises begin at 8 p.m. at Noyes Stadium with the procession of College Regents, faculty members and candidates from the Mike Rheudasil Learning Center. If the weather prevents holding the ceremony outside, it will be held in the Hunt Physical Education Center. Overflow crowds for indoor ceremonies will be accommodated at Hunt Center. The announcement of the change to an indoor ceremony would be made by noon on Friday. The Master Teacher for the 2007-2008 school year will be honored during commencement. Five nominees for the Distinguished Service Award will be recognized. They include Angela Cummings, Lauren Davis, Tara Gibby, Max Goerte, and Gabriela Ortiz. One will be announced as winner during commencement. This award is given for outstanding academic, campus and community accomplishments while attending PJC. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, a reception will be held for all graduates, their family and friends. The location will be announced during the program. Other special ceremonies during the week include adult education GED graduation at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Ray Karrer Theater; vocational nursing pinning ceremonies at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church; medical records coding and surgical technology pinning ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday. Both of these events will be held in room 1202 of the Walters Workforce Training Center. Associate degree nursing pinning ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church. The Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology, a division of the College, will hold graduation ceremonies at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Ray Karrer Theater.
