Culminating in approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for the awarding of the Associate of Arts in Teaching, Paris Junior College offers individuals thinking they might like a career in teacher education an excellent introductory exposure to those experiences through credit courses that make up much of the challenging field of teacher education.

The Paris Junior College Catalog, semester class schedule and “Teacher Education” informational brochure detail the specifics of such a sequence of study.

Additionally, Paris Junior College has various articulation agreements with regional colleges and universities which allow transferring students to pursue upper division course work which could result in a bachelor’s degree. Very close working relationships with Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Stephen F. Austin University, University of North Texas, and The University of Texas at Tyler provide transferring students with degree plans and transfer course articulation which allows a smooth transition from community college to a four-year institution.

Technology based/enhanced instruction - internet, ITV, Hybrid, etc. - allows for instructional experiences close to home without having to travel long distances to the classroom, along with the traditional approach to teaching. Students are encouraged to contact personnel at Paris Junior College for more information about this exciting profession.

An example of the innovative approach to course and degree delivery is the FIPSE (Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education) supported agreement between Paris Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University whereby these institutions have entered into an agreement which will allow PJC students to participate in a fully online program to complete a degree in early childhood education. Students should complete their first two years of college work here at Paris Junior College, then apply for admission to SFAU for the online program.

For specific details concerning how this program works and application materials, see the contact information below.
