Every currently enrolled student at Paris Junior College has an assigned academic advisor. All new students will be advised at New Student Orientation by temporarily assigned academic advisors. Counselors and/or Advisors from the Counseling/Advising Center are an integral part of the new student orientation and registration process. They work with new students to help guide them through their first registration.

Shortly after the beginning of their first semester, students will receive formal notification of the name of their permanent academic advisor and will be provided with information about how to contact the advisor. Some students have been permanently assigned to a counselor or advisor from the Counseling/Advising Center; however, any student may consult a counselor or advisor from the Counseling/Advising Center at any time regarding academic concerns. All veterans are required to be academically advised by an advisor from the Counseling/Advising Center.

All students, regardless of their academic status, are encouraged to seek academic advising as early on in the semester as possible to plan their schedules and discuss their academic progress. Each Schedule of Classes contains information about early advising and registration opportunities. Seeking advice in a timely manner will help students avoid such problems as non-transferable courses and delays in graduation.
