Paris Junior College subscribes to the philosophy that all students who have the ability to pursue and can benefit from a college education should be given the opportunity. The purpose of federal financial aid is to provide grants and part-time employment to eligible students who need help with paying their college expenses.
Because students are the ones who will benefit the most from their college education, the students and their families are considered to have primary responsibility for paying the costs of attendance as determined by the Department of Education. Federal financial aid is intended to supplement, not replace, the student’s and their family’s responsibility for paying college expenses. For detailed information about the federal financial aid programs and institutional policies and procedures, students are advised to contact the Financial Aid Office.
All federal financial aid is awarded in strict compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Priority is given to students with the greatest documented financial need whose completed applications are received by the priority dates.
Federal financial aid is awarded on the basis of documented individual need. Need is the difference between the college’s estimated cost of attendance for the student and the amount the students and family can reasonably be expected to contribute toward the student’s cost of attendance. Need based aid awards cannot exceed documented financial need.
Major Financial Aid Programs include: Federal Pell Grant (form), Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Work Study, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan (Starting in the fall semester of 2007), Texas Public Education Grant, Texas Grant, Leap, and Sleap.

Financial aid recipients must meet all federal and institutional eligibility requirements, including the following:
Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
