Paris Junior College sophomore Mary O’Connor, of Paris, was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women's Scholar All-American. She was recognized for her dual accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team. “Receiving recognition as an Academic All-American player is such an honor," said O'Connor. "I am very happy to know that my hard work in the classroom and on the field has been noticed and commended. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me and for receiving this award. I am certainly blessed!” O'Connor, who graduated in December, was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the national two-year college honor society.
