Adult education program seeks students

Published or Revised October 02, 2015

The Adult Education Department at Paris Junior College is looking for dedicated students who would like to advance their earning potential by completing the General Education Development (GED) program. PJC offers free classes in a variety of locations to help students develop the skills necessary to pass the GED exam and receive a high school equivalency diploma.

The first step toward completing the GED is to enroll in either a morning or evening GED preparation class. Seats are currently available at all sites and enrollment is open.

Classes are offered in Paris, Sulphur Springs, Clarksville, and Cooper. Our experienced instructors and tutors are trained in all four GED subjects: mathematics, social studies, science, and reading/language arts. After an initial orientation, baseline assessment, and 12 face-to-face classroom hours, students then qualify for the distance learning Skills Tutor program, an online GED class. The amount of time needed before attempting the GED exam varies depending on prior knowledge and skills of individual students.

Enrollment in GED courses is ongoing throughout the year. Those interested in signing up should contact the PJC Adult Education program at 903-782-0467. While GED classes and study materials are free, there is a fee associated with taking the exam. Scholarships may be available for those who qualify.
