Adult Education orientation sessions scheduled

The Adult Education and Family Literacy department at Paris Junior College has scheduled Adult Education/GED orientation sessions in Paris, Cooper and Sulphur Springs.

Paris sessions will be held Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 23. The sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Lamar County Human Resources Council Childhood Learning Center, 1275-19th NW.

Orientation for Even Start classes also will be at the Childhood Learning Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 17-19, and Jan. 23. Call 903-782-0422 for reservations.

Orientation for English as a Second Language participants will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Faith Presbyterian Church and from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Paris Junior College Administration Building. These sessions will meet Jan. 17-19 and 23.

GED orientation sessions in Cooper will be held Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 23 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Delta County Library.

GED orientation sessions in Sulphur Springs will be held Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 23 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Paris Junior College - Sulphur Springs Center. Morning classes will meet from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24-26, and Jan. 30.

All students wishing to take GED classes must complete the four-session new student orientation before being placed into a class.

Participants must be 18 or older and provide a Social Security number. Seventeen-year-olds may attend if they have an official withdrawal from school, parental consent and provide a Social Security number. Sixteen-year-olds must present a copy of the court order stating they are required to attend Adult Education (GED) classes offered through Paris Junior College.

Pre-registration is required for all 16- and 17-year-olds. No one will be admitted to classes after the orientation dates.
