Adult ed orientation set at PJC

The Adult Education and Literacy Department at Paris Junior College will hold an orientation for persons wishing to enroll in Adult Education/GED Preparation classes, according to Janie Bonham, Director. The orientation will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m. on March 7-10. The orientation sessions will be held in the Learning Center on the Paris Junior College campus.

Participants are required to attend four sessions before being placed into a class. Classes will start on Monday, March 21.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and provide a valid social security number. Persons 17 years of age may attend if they have an official withdrawal from school, parental consent, and provide a Social Security number. Court-ordered 16-year-olds must have a copy of the court order stating that they are required to attend Adult Education (GED) classes through Paris Junior College. No one will be admitted to class until the next orientation session in April.

Orientation for Even Start classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., March 7-10, at the Lamar County Human Resources Council Childhood Learning Center located at 1275 19th Street NW. Call 903-782-0422 for reservations.

Orientation for students to take English as a Second Language classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, March 7-10, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Paris. An additional orientation will be offered from 6-9 p.m., March 7-10, at the Paris Junior College Learning Center.

Pre-registration is required for all 16- and 17-year-olds desiring to enroll in Adult Education and Family Literacy classes.
