Another former Dragon taken in baseball draft

CarterMajor League Baseball continues to eye players with a Paris Junior College past. Charles Carter of Texas A&M - Corpus Christi was drafted Wednesday by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. "Charles was a 2003 grad of PJC and played for me in 2002 and 2003," Dragons baseball coach Deron Clark said Thursday. "He was another Bobby Walters Cup winner in 2003." Carter played outfield and first base for the Dragons. He attended L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, the same high school as PJC Hall of Famer Larry McWilliams. Former Dragons pitcher Bryce Cox, a right-hander for the Rice University Owls, was drafted in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft Tuesday by the Los Angeles-Anaheim Angels. Incoming PJC freshman Daniel Martin, a right-handed pitcher from Harelton High School, was drafted in the 15th round by the New York Mets, and fellow freshman Zach Oliver, a left-hander from Waco Midway High School, was drafted in the 18th round by the Atlanta Braves.
