Continuing Ed schedule for December is released

The Paris Junior College Continuing Education Department has scheduled a variety of classes for December. Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in the Bobby R. Walters Workforce Training Center on the north side of the PJC campus.
Paris Campus
- The Introduction to Windows 7 class will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5-13. This class is an introduction to operating systems and includes file creation/deletion, data entry and manipulation, automatic file execution, configuration and directory commands. Participants will learn to customize Windows 7 to meet their needs.
- The Defensive Driving class is offered by Paris Junior College #067 in accordance with the standards established by the National Traffic Safety Institute of Texas Inc., under license #C0197, and consists of six hours of classroom instruction. The class will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12-13. This course may be applied toward insurance discounts or, in some cases, for traffic ticket dismissal.
- Professional Truck Driver I and II are offered at Paris Junior College based on demand. Please call 903-782-0447 to schedule.
- The Basic Life Support (CPR) class approved by the American Heart Association will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 6-7. This course covers instruction in lifesaving skills of respiratory (choking and near drowning) and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) Re-certification for Health Professionals will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 9. This is an update and review for current CPT certified cardholders. Written examination and successful demonstration of skill is required. The American Heart Association certifies this class.
- The Kids Hurt Too seminar will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the needs of their children throughout the process of divorce.
- Beginning Genealogy: Where Are Your Roots? will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Participants will learn the basics of census records search, obituary research, how to create a family tree and more. A flash drive will be helpful to save valuable research during the instruction.
- The Electricians, Journeymen, Wireman & Masters MCE for License Renewal course is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and meets the continuing education requirements for electricians to renew their license. Topic of discussion will be changes to the 2011 NEC. The course will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, under provider #1776.
