PJC drama students take honors at forensics meet

Winning places at the TIFA Forensics state meet held recently in San Antonio were Paris Junior College speech students (from the left) Dori Somerville, Ray Sparks, Brad McNeal, Brandon Brown and T.J. Jones.

Paris Junior College speech and drama students recently brought home several awards from the spring Texas Intercollegiate Forensics Association state meet in San Antonio. Students won two first places, a third and a fourth place at the contest that includes colleges from throughout the state. T.J. Jones of Paris and Brandon Brown of Lone Oak placed first in novice Duo Interpretation. Brown also took fourth place in Dramatic Interpretation. Another duo, Brad McNeal of Brookston and Ray Sparks of Cumby won first place in novice Parliamentary Debate, a team event. Rounding out the competition was Dori Somerville of Detroit, who captured a third place in novice Dramatic Interpretation. PJC instructors and coaches Ann Glover and Alex Peevy accompanied the students to San Antonio. Other students competing at the state level included Josh Baker of Denton, Kayla Coleman of Clarksville, Matt Hamm of Wright City, Okla., Casey Logsdon of Blossom; Josh Maxwell, Zac Ressler and Kristy Rifle of Paris and Stephanie Steinkoenig of Windom.
