Air conditioning, refrigeration classes start Aug. 27

Published or Revised August 09, 2007

Paris Junior College Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program, one of several technical/vocational programs offers at PJC, will start new classes beginning Aug. 27. These are hands-on classes in commercial and residential air conditioning and refrigeration. Both daytime and night classes are being offered, according to instructor Charlie Hodgkiss. Classes are available at PJC's Paris and Greenville campuses. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics states that: "Job prospects for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and installers are expected to be excellent, particularly for those with training from an accredited technical school. The Bureau adds, "Because of the increasing sophistication of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, employers prefer to hire those with technical school training." "There is a huge demand for aid conditioning technicians in this area," said Hodgkiss. "Anyone interested in our program can have a bright future ahead, providing they successfully complete the course." The PJC Air Conditioning program offers an associate of applied science degree and a certificate program. Registration for fall air conditioning classes will be Aug. 22 and 23. Those interested should contact PJC at 903-784-7660 for more information.
