Published or Revised October 27, 2006

Matt WhiteMatt White, Paris Junior College instructor and author of Prairie Time: A Blackland Portrait, is one of the featured writers at the Texas Book Festival being held in Austin this weekend.

White will participate in a panel called “Pride of Place: Texas Nature Writing” on Sunday, Oct. 29, in the State Capitol building. The moderator will be Charles Lohrmann, managing editor of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine.

White’s book helps readers understand what a prairie is and how to appreciate its beauty and importance, and to increase awareness of the small plots of virgin land that remains.
