Published or Revised March 29, 2005

The music division of the Fine Arts Department at Paris Junior College has numerous events coming up during April. On April 8 at 7 p.m., the PJC Chamber Singers will perform at the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center preceding the Empire Brass Concert. On April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Central Presbyterian Church, Charles Shelton, Paris Junior College's longtime accompanist, will begin "An Evening with the PJC Chamber Singers" by presenting an extended organ prelude time. Chamber Singers will follow with their annual spring concert featuring solos from members of this top vocal ensemble. Selections from choral composers including Jane Marshall, William L. Dawson, Moses Hogan, Buryl Red, and Paul O. Manz will be presented. PJC Chorale will offer their "Springtime Choral Review" at 7:30 p.m. on April 19 in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The 50-voice choir will present Franz Joseph Hayden's TeDeum. The men will present The Awakening and the women will offer the fast-paced Latin selection, Gloria. The traditional Broadway medleys will feature music from Jekyll & Hyde. An added feature of this concert will be four members of the Dallas Symphony who will come as accompanists. First and second violin, cello and bass viol players will lend their talents to make this concert even finer. There is no admission charge for the Chamber Singers and Chorale concerts. Encore, PJC's award-winning show choir, will be featured in their annual show, "Be Our Guest! Experience the Magic!" at 7:30 each evening on April 28 and 29 and a matinee at 2 p.m. on May 1. This show will be held in the Ray Karrer Theatre on the PJC campus. Popular animated feature films will provide the movies that will be saluted in song and dance. The Little Mermaid, Alladin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan are the films chosen. Tickets for the Encore show are $3 and available from the music department.
