Open tryouts set for first Dragons volleyball team

Published or Revised June 27, 2017

A new coach will launch a new women's volleyball program at Paris Junior College this fall, and prospective players are being invited to an open tryout this month. Coach Justin Maness is inviting soon-to-be college freshmen and sophomores to come to the Hunt Center on the PJC campus Saturday, May 20, 2006 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to try out for the newest Lady Dragons team. "We are a brand new volleyball program entering competitive and conference play this fall," Maness said. "We know there are very good volleyball players in the PJC service area, and we want at least a dozen of them on our team." This is the first time in history PJC has fielded a volleyball team in the NJCAA Division I Region XIV conference. In addition to non-conference games, Maness' Lady Dragons will face a round-robin conference schedule. Maness encourages high school graduates interested in continuing their volleyball career to come to the tryout. "It will be pretty historic for those who are members of the first-ever Lady Dragons volleyball team," he said. For information and notification that you will be at the tryouts, call 903-782-0218.
