Orientation for new GED students scheduled

The Adult Education and Family Literacy Consortium at Paris Junior College will hold a new student orientation June 5-8.

Sessions will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The morning session will meet in the Rheudasil Learning Center. The evening session will be held in the PJC Administration Building. All students wishing to take GED classes must complete the four-session new student orientation before being placed into classes. This will be the only class offered this summer.

Orientation for Even Start classes will be at the Lamar County Human Resources Council Childhood Learning Center at 1275 19th Street NW. The sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., June 5. Call 903-782-0422 for reservations.

Orientation for English as a Second Language participants will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, May 13 - June 1 at Faith Presbyterian Church. An evening session will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Paris Junior College Administration Building.

Sulphur Springs

Orientation will be held June 5-8 at the Sulphur Springs Center for persons wishing to enroll in Adult Education/GED Preparation classes.

Orientation will be held from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Center. An evening orientation will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sulphur Springs High School.

Participants are required to attend all four orientation sessions before being placed into a class. Classes will start the Monday following orientation.

Delta County

Orientation will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., June 5-8, at the Delta County Library in Cooper. This will be the only class offered this summer. Classes will begin on the Monday following orientation.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and provide a social security number. Persons 17 years of age may attend if they have an official withdrawal from school, parental consent, and provide a valid Social Security number. Court-ordered 16 year olds must have a copy of the court order stating they are required to attend Adult Education (GED) classes offered through Paris Junior College. Pre-registration is required for all 16- and 17-year-olds desiring to enroll in Adult Education and Family Literacy classes. No one will be admitted to classes after the orientation dates. Classes begin the Monday following orientation.
