PJC adds new agriculture production program

Published or Revised August 09, 2006

David McAnally, Dean of Workforce Education, has announced a new certificate program in the Paris Junior College Agriculture Department. A Certificate of Completion in Agriculture Production Operations has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is now available for student enrollment. The new certification emphasizes "hands-on" skills to be used in crop and livestock production, according to McAnally. Full-time students can complete the requirements for the certification in three semesters. Most students will be able to finish the program in a year. Students will receive hands-on training in crop science, food science, horticulture, animal science, farm and ranch shop and entomology. Courses in Computer Science for Agriculture; Agricultural Economics and Marketing; and Livestock Evaluation round out the student's education.
