PJC offering free GED & ESL classes, free tutoring in Clarksville

Published or Revised August 14, 2014

The Adult Education and Family Literacy Department at Paris Junior College is now working with the Red River County Public Library to offer free tutoring. To take advantage of the tutoring, call Library Director Danielle Petty to set up an appointment at 903-427-3991. Free classes in either General Education Development (GED) or English as a Second Language (ESL) will be offered by PJC this month in Paris and Sulphur Springs. Classes are set to start the last week of August. While the GED and ESL classes are free, students need to call first to ensure there is space in the class. Completion is based on the individual students’ efforts. Successful students completing program requirements may apply for a GED scholarship as long as funds are available. In Paris, GED classes will be held at the PJC Workforce Training Center at 2400 Clarksville Street, with entry on the west side of the building. ESL classes are offered at Givens School PISD on 655 MLK Jr. Dr. To sign up, or to get additional information, call 903-782-0424. Sulphur Springs GED classes will be held at CANHelp at 613 Gilmer Street. ESL classes are offered at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1000 Texas Street, with entry from Peach Street. To sign up, or to get additional information, call 903-782-0424.
