Published or Revised April 09, 2014

Paris Junior College’s Dragons golf team achieved fifth place at the Southwest Junior College Championships at the Tanglewood Golf and Resort near Pottsboro this past Monday and Tuesday. The Dragons are currently in fourth place in the chase for one of five National Tournament qualifying spots from NJCAA District II, Division I teams. It also put the Dragons in second place in Region XIV. The scores from the Southwest Championship will be added to the District II Championship to determine the teams advancing to the national tournament as well as the Region XIV Champion. “The competition for national tournament slots is tight,” said PJC golf coach David Johnson. “There are two teams just behind us by ten and seventeen shots.” Zac Oliver, who finished in a tie for sixth place with rounds of 77-75-70, again led the Dragons.
