The Paris Junior College golf team teed up for the first time this spring at The Wrangler Classic hosted by Odessa College at Split Rail Country Club in Aledo, Feb. 16-17.

The Dragons finished third in team competition with scores of 316-305 (621). Zac Oliver led the team, tying for tenth with rounds of 74-78 (152). Jeremy Salas tied for eighteenth with scores of 79-75 (154). Collin Thompson had scores of 79-76 (155) and a tie for 20th.

Other PJC players included Oliver Stephens, who tied for 31st with 84-77 (161); Tyler Dunbar at 88-77 (165); and Zach McEwin with 85-85 (170).

“It was good for us to get to play for the first time this year,” said PJC golf coach Dave Johnson. “With the crazy weather, we haven’t had a chance to play nor practice, so it was great to have a chance to compete. We played poorly in the first round but bounced back in the second round.”

The Dragons next play at the Tanglewood Resort and Golf Club in Pottsboro on March 2-4.
