PJC Regents approve room and board increase

Published or Revised April 29, 2014

At their April 28 meeting, the Paris Junior College Board of Regents approved an increase to room and board charges for 2014-2015 incorporating last month’s increase of 4.5 percent in the Aramark food contract. They approved the Texas Association of School Board’s Update 29 to the Policy Manual, and received a schedule of activities for the last week of the semester culminating with the spring graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. on May 9. In other business the regents:
  • Received the financial report from Vice President of Business Services Teri Zamora who said that more than 81 percent of tuition and fees have been collected, reflecting the fall and spring semester.
  • Received a report on the Board of Trustees Institute for Achieving the Dream held last month. Regents Ginna Bowman and Frankie Norwood attended. Bowman related that boards should acquire knowledge to help them gain more success for students, and that 18-21 year olds in college now account for only 23 percent of total enrollment.
  • Approved employment of John Cossaboon as men and women’s soccer coach, effective May 1. They also accepted the retirements of Associate Degree Nursing Instructor Randall Childres and Production Center Coordinator Tim Shelton, effective August 31, and of Instructor of English/Coordinator of the Writing Lab Joan Mathis and Instructor of English Diane “Dede” Oxley, as well as the resignation of Upward Bound Advisor Kristi Weets, effective May 9.
