Monday, July 6, last day to register for Kids College

Published or Revised July 02, 2015

Parents looking for a smart way to keep their children learning this summer have until the end of Monday to register for Kids College at Paris Junior College. Designed for those in grades K-5th, the fun classes are July 13-16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the regular classes, the Commerce Fire Department will bring their “Fire House” on Monday, July 13. This gives participants a chance to experience heat, smoke and fire in a kitchen and bedroom simulation. They are shown how to put out a fire with an extinguisher and escape out a window.

A parent preview will be held on the final day, Thursday, July 16.

Kids College classes will include:

Think It, Draw It, Create It: learn drawing without needing prior experience; Kidz Home Alone: emergency and safety rules; Krafty Kids; Martial Arts & Anti Bully Techniques; ¡Olè!: learn the Spanish alphabet, numbers and popular phrases as well as games, art projects and a fiesta; Lights! Camera! Action!: learn the basics to create a video; Secret Agent: learn skills and code-breaking; Give Me a “C” Give Me a “HEER”: learn cheering and tumbling; Signing with Friends: learn how to fingerspell; Kitchen Creations: learn to create tasty and healthy snacks; Theater Workshop: write a screenplay, build props, and more; Sweet Pea Spa Day: learn proper care for nails and hair; Super Silly Science: fun and silly hands-on experiments and activities; Traffic Light Eating: learn healthy eating as students prepare their own lunch; and Write Off the Bat: create a special “Kids College” newspaper.
