Safe Sitter

Published or Revised October 19, 2021

Too little emphasis is placed on the responsibility young teens assume when staying home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Teens want to be able to show parents they're ready, and parents need the peace of mind that they truly are! What will you learn? How to: rescue a choking child or infant plus ways to prevent choking in the first place; perform infant and child CPR; evaluate an injury to determine how to handle it including how to get help; prevent problem behavior plus how to manage situations brought on by problem behavior; keep yourself safe in threatening situations from power failure to prowlers; care for a child's basic needs including feeding, entertaining, and toileting; and establish your own babysitting business. You'll have fun and learn a lot in a short period of time. And at the end you can proudly say, "I'm a Safe Sitter®!"
