Published or Revised January 17, 2017

Scrooge the Musical
A Christmas classic for the whole family to enjoy opens Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray E. Karrer Theater at Paris Junior College. The production is directed by PJC Drama Instructor William Walker with musical direction by PJC Music Instructor Dr. Michael Holderer. “‘Scrooge: The Musical’ is a whimsical retelling of the classic Dickens tale ‘A Christmas Carol,’” said Walker. “This catchy version of the show takes us through the many events in Scrooge’s life that have shaped him and that will shape his character and change him forever. It shows us that if we open our hearts to the possibility of loving others the rewards are great perhaps not in material terms but in terms of human understanding. It has never been truer than now that you cannot understand a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes.” Written and composed by renowned writer-composer-lyricist Leslie Bricusse in 1970, this festive musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel is a tale that has charmed generations with its story of repentance, giving, and the magic of the Christmas spirit.
