The GED Test

Published or Revised December 01, 2011

On the Paris campus, GED registration is conducted on a drop-in basis in the Testing Center.

The GED in Paris is typically given in two sessions, math and writing on Wednesday, and science, social studies, and reading on Thursday. Applicants must register and pay test fees by 2 p.m. on the Monday before the Wednesday test date. Saturday testing is done several times a year. Applicants must register and pay for the Saturday test by Wednesday at 2 p.m. Registering for the GED may take about 45 minutes to complete. Registration for the test is on a first come, first served basis, and spaces are limited. A minimum of six registered examinees is required for a test to be administered.

Please do not bring children to registration or testing; child care is not provided. You must bring a valid photo ID to registration, such as a Texas driver’s license or Texas identification card. You will not be allowed to register without proper identification. If your photo I.D. was not issued in Texas, you must also bring proof of residency.

Sixteen-year-olds may take the GED only if they have a court order requiring them to do so. Seventeen-year-olds must present a completed official high school withdrawal form and a parental consent form. These forms can be obtained at the Testing Center at the time of registration and returned by the test day.

The fee for those taking the GED for the first time is $60. The fee for those retesting is $12 per test. For more information please call the Testing Center at 903-782-0446.

(Note: The Business Office closes at 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. on Friday. Test fees need to be paid at the time of registration if possible. There are a few exceptions, but these will be determined by the GED chief exa.m.iner on a case-by-case basis.)
