Paris Regional Medical Center Interim CEO Patti Monczewski, joined by PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin, recently awarded eight Paris Junior College students scholarships. Paris Regional Medical Center employees, administration, physicians and friends created the Anthony and Debra West Endowment Fund and the Wayne Neal Endowed Radiology Technology Scholarship to support the education of students choosing health care careers. “Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients on their selection,” said Monczewski. “We at PRMC look forward to seeing them complete their training to their ability. There is no doubt they will help make positive contributions that will impact the extraordinary care provided to many residents in our community.” Paris students Meosha Cooper, Jozzlynn Arguello, and Broderick Barr were the recipients of the Wayne Neal Endowed Radiology Technology Scholarship for 2015-2016. This scholarship is named for Wayne Neal, who served as the director of radiology services for Paris Regional Medical Center and was an instructor in the PJC radiology program when it began. Neal lost his battle with cancer in December 2009 but had worked in healthcare for more than 15 years at McCuistion Regional, CHRISTUS St. Joseph’s Hospital and Paris Regional Medical Center. Six students received 2015-16 Anthony and Debra West Endowed Nursing Scholarships at PJC. They include Bailea Bankston, Allison Ensey, Stacie Kimble and Angel Cox of Paris, Jvon Davis of Redmond, Ore., and Jacqueline Davis of Bigelow, Ark. Anthony and Debra West were both long-time employees at CHRISTUS St. Joseph’s Hospital and Paris Regional Medical Center (PRMC), who were tragically killed in an accident in May 2007. According to PJC’s Director of Health Occupations Marcia Putnam, Debra West received her associate’s degree in nursing from PJC, worked as an RN for many years and served as a case manager. Anthony, Debra’s husband, attended PJC after a distinguished military career including two tours of duty in Vietnam and earning the Purple Heart. He earned his associate’s degree in nursing and worked as an RN at St. Joseph’s and PRMC for 17 years. “On behalf of the students who have benefitted and continue to benefit from the generosity of friends, co-workers and family of Wayne Neal and Anthony and Debra West, PJC sincerely appreciates the legacy and opportunity these scholarships create,” said Dr. Anglin. Donations can be made to the Wayne Neal Radiology Technology Endowment Fund or the West Endowment Fund through the Paris Junior College Memorial Foundation, 2400 Clarksville Street, Paris, TX 75460.
