2008 NJCAA National Tournament

Jason Timmis and Nathan Blankenship earned spots on the NJCAA All-American Team at the 2008 NJCAA National Tournament. Both were also named to the All-Tournament Team.v

Blankenship played his way onto the All-American Team by winning a score card playoff using the last nine holes from the final round to break the four-way tie for the 15th and final spot for All-American. Nathan shot 3-under-par on the final nine holes for the win.

Jason finished in 14th place as an individual. He was also named to the Golf Coaches Association of America - Ping All-American Team as a First Team selection. The GCAA - Ping All-American Team was selected by coaches and rewarded players for their play throughout the year.

Andrew Brauer finished Tied for 21st place with 303 and one shot out of the running for All-American for the second straight year.

It was a great accomplishment for both Nate and Jason to make All-American. Nathan played very consistant over the four days and shot -1 (71) on the last day when he really needed to move up and try to crack the top 15 for All-American.

Jason had a bad first day (82) and came back on the second day (75) to get a few shots back. On the third day he fired a round of -5 (67), which on this golf course was a great accomplishment. That 67 was the key for him to be on the All American team. His last day score of 77 was tainted with a triple bogey on the 11th hole.

Jason was also voted on the GCAA - Ping All American Team by the coaches, which was a great honor. Jason played the state and regional tournaments at (-10) for six rounds playing some fantastic golf down the stretch when it really counted.

I feel for Andrew, who has played really solid for us the last two years. To miss the All-American Team by one shot again this year was really disappointing for him.

Jason and Nate are the first two All-Americans I have had at PJC, and I coundn't be more proud for them and their accomplishments.

We had a great year off the course, as well, with all four of the sophomores graduating. Our team GPA was 3.25 for the spring semester.
