Section: Golf Results2009 Texas Junior College State ChampionshipThe PJC golf team finished tied for seventh at the Texas Junior College State Championships at Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury. The players were met with tough conditions on the first day, with temperatures in the mid-40s and winds of 25-35 mph. PJC shot rounds of 323 and 317 on the first day and were led by sophomore Jason Timmis with rounds of 79 and 2-under-par 70 in the second 18. Timmis' 70 was by far the best round of the day, four shots better than the next best score. Thomas Bourne had scores of 81 and 78, and Kevin Geisbrecht with 78 and 82. Round two had perfect playing conditions, and the Dragons were led by red shirt freshman Preston Spoonemore with a score of 74. Other dragons were Thomas Bourne, 78, and Jesse Durham, 78. The Dragons shot a team score of 313, which earned them a tie for seventh place. The region XIV tournament has been moved to Oak Hurst Golf Club in Tyler and will be played on April 26-28.
