Almost 500 students graduate PJC Friday night

More than 490 students received diplomas and certificates during Paris Junior College’s commencement ceremonies held Friday at Noyes Stadium.

Dr. Pamela Anglin, President of Paris Junior College, greeted the capacity crowd of family and friends that filled the stadium. She introduced the PJC Board of Regents members present.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Lynette Hadley of Paris. Hadley graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She has been on the President’s Honor List for four consecutive semesters, the National Dean’s List, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship to Austin College.
Hadley has served as a peer mentor and is active in church activities, mission work and Habitat for Humanity.

The President’s Outstanding Student Award, given for the first time this year, was presented to Earnest Jones, a student/athlete from New Orleans, LA. A two-year member of the PJC Dragon basketball team, Jones received defensive player of the year honors, as well as being named to the All-Conference team.

Jones, who graduated with a 3.33 grade point average, was included in Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and was named to the Dean’s Honor List at the college.

Students recognized for graduating with highest honors (4.0 GPA) were Tonille Carlon, Brandi Dalme, Katherine Griffis, Lynnette Hadley, Larissa Martin, Christine McCann, Lindy McCullough and Christopher Rowbeck.

Students graduating with high honors (3.90 – 3.99 GPA) include John Terry Bull, Megan Cauley, Renee Costa, Dedra Dollins, Ashley Herron, Shawni Nichols, Patrick O’Connor, Donna Pope, Mary Robinson and Shelby Wade.
