Section: News ArticlesKimberly Adams receives first West scholarship
PJC graduate and Paris native will attend TWU in the fall.
Kimberly Adams of Paris has been selected as the first recipient of the Paris Regional Medical Center/Anthony and Debra West Memorial Scholarship. Ms. Adams will use the scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy beginning this fall at Texas Woman’s University, Presbyterian Hospital campus in Dallas. “We commend Kim on her career decision and are happy we can assist her in furthering her education,” said PRMC CEO Christopher Dux. Ms. Adams expressed her appreciation to the hospital and PJC for the scholarship and at present plans to return to Paris following graduation. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Adams of Paris, Kim is a graduate of North Lamar High School and attended Paris Junior College prior to enrolling in TWU where she earned her undergraduate degree in child development. The West Scholarship is intended for students from Lamar, Red River, Delta or Fannin counties who wish to pursue a career in a health-related field. Students must be a high school graduate or full-time student. Recipients are required to enroll in an accredited Texas college or university, carry a minimum of 12 semester hours and maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher, and PRMC is afforded the first opportunity to offer the student a scholarship upon graduation. The West Scholarship was created by the administration, employees and friends of Paris Regional Medical Center following the death of PRMC employees and husband and wife, Anthony and Debra West in a motor vehicle accident in July 2007. The couple graduated from the PJC nursing program. Donations may be made to the West Scholarship Fund, C/O Paris Junior College Memorial Foundation, 2400 Clarksville Street, Paris, Texas 75460.
