Hunt County Judge John L. Horn presents the flag of Texas to PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin Thursday, Sept. 18, during grand opening ceremonies dedicating the new PJC — Greenville Center.

Students, staff, faculty and dignitaries turn out for the grand opening of Paris Junior College's new Greenville campus.

After being welcomed on the front plaza of the new Paris Junior College — Greenville Center by PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin, a large crowd heard remarks from several guest speakers.

Citing the history of Paris Junior College in Greenville, Vice President of the PJC Board of Regents Thomas Hunt III explained about starting with a few rooms downtown, eventually moving to Jack Finney Boulevard and finally coming to the new campus.

“We have a permanent home on this campus, and aren’t we proud to be here,” said Hunt. “And we have record enrollment this year with 4,742 students total. If you add in those taking continuing education and lifestyle courses and adding workforce training skills, the number approaches 7,000 students served by PJC.”

Hunt went on to thank the faculty, staff and especially Dr. Anglin for their hard work and dedication in bringing about the new facility.

Greenville sophomore Alyssa Davis spoke of wanting to be a chiropractor and how PJC fit her plans.

“I chose to attend PJC because it is affordable and close to home,” Davis explained. “And the education I’m getting here is as good as at any other school. I hope everyone enjoys this campus as much as I have.”

“It is with great pride that I stand before you today,” said Hunt County Judge John L. Horn. “Economic studies have shown that there is a $5 return for every $1 invested in education. This is state of the art and one of Hunt County’s most exciting higher education facilities.” He then presented Dr. Anglin with a Texas flag for the campus.

“We are proud to serve the students of Hunt County,” concluded Dr. Anglin. “This is a most student friendly campus and it is so enjoyable to see students socializing before and after class and using the building facilities.”
