Section: GolfPJC Golf ProgramGolf Coach David Johnson![]() David Johnson begins his fourth season as the head golf coach at PJC. He also serves as the college's athletic director. Beginning his 24th year of collegiate coaching, Johnson's stops have included two periods with Cisco Junior College: from 1984 through 1990, he served as the offensive line coach, and from 1994 to 1995 he was the offensive coordinator and head golf coach. Johnson was with Howard Payne University from 1990 to 1994, where served as the offensive line coach. Johnson started the golf program at HPU in 1993 and served as head golf coach in 1993 and 1994. Johnson moved to Hardin-Simmons University as offensive line coach from 1996 to 1997, and was at Navarro College as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator from 1998 to 2005. Since Johnson took over in 2005, the Dragons have made three consecutive appearances at the national tournament with 14th-, 11th- and eighth0place finishes. The Dragons won the 2008 Region XIV Championship and have a runner-up and a third-place finish at regionals. PJC has two second-place and one fourth-place finish at the Texas State Junior College Championships. In 2008 Johnson had his first two NJCAA All-Americans, Jason Timmis and Nathan Blankenship. Timmis was also named to the first-ever Ping All-American Team. The dragons success has not been limited to the golf course under Johnson. In 2007-2008 the Dragons four returning sophomores graduated, and the team's GPA was 3.25. The returning sophomore graduation rate since Johnson took over as head coach has been 88 percent. Johnson and his wife Amy have two daughters Kacey, 16, Bethany Elliott, son-in-law Scott and grandson Michael. Fall 2009 PJC Golf Schedule» View the results of all tournaments.
