Paris Junior College vocal music instructor Pat Fowzer directs the PJC Chorale in rehearsals recently for the group’s 20th presentation of Songs of the Season, set for Monday, Nov. 23, in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Paris.

The 20th annual holiday event will be held in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Paris, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The 20th annual Songs of the Season Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, according to Patricia Fowzer, Paris Junior College vocal music instructor.

The Paris Junior College Chorale will be joined with the choirs from Paris High School and North Lamar High School to present this annual Christmas concert.

Fowzer, PHS Choir Director Jan Blize, and NLHS Choir Director Rebecca Hildreth will direct the combined group on such favorites as “Mary, Did You Know?,” “Where Are You Christmas?,” “The First Noel” and “The Dinner Bell Carol.”

To help celebrate this special anniversary concert, Travis Junior High Band Director Brian Rhodes has written an arrangement of “Good King Wenceslaus” that will be performed for the first time. Travis Choir Director Eva Williams will sing a special improvisational solo of “Go Tell it on the Mountain.” The program will include an audience sing-along and the concert will end with the traditional performance of George Frederic Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah.”

Accompaniment will be provided by the Paul Tullis String Ensemble from the Dallas area. Brass, woodwind, and percussion accompaniment will be provided by area band directors and musicians. Piano accompanists are Linda Flanary, Dottie Billman and Shanda Boswell.

Tickets are on sale at the Paris Junior College Music Department room 108, the Paris High School Choir Room, the North Lamar High School Choir Room, Newman Towne and Country Realty, the Paris Junior College Student Center room 208, and the office of First United Methodist Church. Ticket prices are $8 per person with children under age 5 admitted free with an adult. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets may be reserved by contacting Brenda Jewett at 903-784-8066.
