By Scott Hyland
Lady Dragons Head Coach

HylandThe Lady Dragons fell to Eastern Oklahoma State College, 71-69, Saturday afternoon in a game that saw 12 ties and 12 lead changes.

The teams went back and forth for the first four minutes until Eastern OK opened the lead up to 11-7. They would push the lead to as big as seven at 20-13 before Paris stormed back to tie the game at 20-20 on a Faryn Bills lay up at the 8:35 mark.

The Lady Mountaineers responded with 4 straight points only to see the visitors from Paris answer with a 5-point run behind a Brittany Williams basket and free throw and a LaKeisha Jones basket. PJC would finish the half with another run to take a 37-34 halftime lead.

Eastern OK started the second half with a 13-3 run that gave them a 47-40 lead. PJC responded again, this time with a 10-0 run lead by Shamonica Adams and Shay Runnels. The Lady Dragons would push their lead to as big as 58-52 with 8:30 to play only to see the home team answer with 12-2 run of their own to take a 64-60 lead.

The Lady Dragons would make another run though, behind 4 points from Tammila Mitchell to tie the game at 67-67 with 1:00 to play. A basket and a foul for the Lady Mountaineers down the stretch would be the difference, though, as they held on for the win.

I felt we played much better than we did Tuesday against a very good team. We executed our offense much better and got quality shots. Turnovers at inopportune times are what made the difference.

Paris was lead by LaKeisha Jones with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Brittany Williams with 14 points and 4 steals.
