Section: Lady Dragons Game Reportsvs. McLennan Community College 11.01.05Date: Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 Result: Loss (66-59) » View the box score. By Scott Hyland
In the first 35 minutes of play the Lady Dragons trailed for only 50 seconds, but the visiting Highlassies tied the score at 53-53 on a lay-up and foul with 5:59 to play. A Tiara Perkins basket a few seconds latter put MCC up for good. PJC led by as much as 8 in the first half at 35-27. The home Dragons shot 11 of 21 from the free throw line and had 12 first-half turnovers that resulted in 19 McLennan points. If we could have hit some free throws and taken better care of the ball, we would have gone in at half with 14-15 point lead instead of only 6. The second half is played a lot different if we have that kind of a lead. The Highlassies hit seven of eight free throws in the last 1:22 to ice the game, while PJC went 14 for 27 from the charity stripe for the game. Leading the way for Paris was freshman point guard Charinee Mitchell with 13 points. Freshman post Kristin Ford paced the Lady Dragons with 12 rebounds, while LaKeisha Jones and Brittany Williams added 10 boards each.
