Published or Revised November 27, 2007

The Paris Junior College Department of Music will present the award-winning show choir Encore! in its annual "Encore in the Park!" concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in Paris' Bywaters Park. The public is invited to enjoy the Christmas lights and hear many favorite Christmas selections. There is no admission charge for the performance, just bring your lawn chairs, blankets, hot chocolate, and snuggle up to enjoy this fast-paced, thirty-minute musical. Encore soloists will be featured on the downtown Plaza immediately following the program, in conjunction with the second Annual Holiday in Paris series. Some of the selections to be included are "Sleigh Ride," "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Silver Bells," all performed with exciting chorography and the talented voices of these college musicians. Choreographer for this year's show is former Encore! member Kristina House Courson. Bill Townsend is the group's sound technician. Members of Encore! are: Cade Bailey, Marcus Bailey, Amy Chennault, Dillon Dingman, Kristen Eudy, Nancy Gilmer, Jill Hodgkiss, Samantha House, Brittany Joseph, Jamaal Jones, Tyler Little, Amanda Mathews, Erin McDowell, Chase Nation, Jordan Perry, Glenn Pruitt, Sammy Rollerson, Jordon Thielman, Meshaya Wallace and Tommy Wallace all of Paris; Brandi Amos of Annona; Alden Bowers of Brookston and Kristyn Phillips of Powderly. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate in a two-hour song and dance workshop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. When complete, the children will receive a special photo memento of their workshop experience, a certificate of participation and an opportunity to perform with Encore! at the Bywaters Park performance. The cost of the workshop is $20. For more information, call 903-782-0343.
