Service Area
Paris Junior College is proud to serve our local communities through strong partnerships, affordable tuition, and accessible educational opportunities. Whether you live inside the taxing district or elsewhere in our service area, PJC is committed to helping you move forward.
Paris Junior College was established to serve the educational and workforce needs of our local communities. Understanding PJC’s service area, taxing district, and residency classifications is important because they directly affect tuition rates and access.
PJC Service Area
PJC’s service area includes the geographic region the College is authorized to serve under state guidelines. This area extends beyond the taxing district and includes surrounding counties and communities including:
-
Lamar County (in-district tuition & fees)
-
Delta County (out-of-district tuition & fees)
-
Hopkins County (out-of-district tuition & fees)
-
Hunt County (out-of-district tuition & fees)
-
Red River County (out-of-district tuition & fees)
-
Fannin County (out-of-district tuition & fees)
Taxing District (In-District)
The taxing district refers specifically to the geographic area that financially supports Paris Junior College through local property taxes.
Residents who live within the PJC taxing district qualify for in-district tuition rates, which are lower because local taxpayers help fund the College’s operations and facilities.
Residency Classifications
Tuition at PJC is determined by residency status. Students are classified as:
In-District
Students who reside within the PJC taxing district.
➡️ Lowest tuition rate.
Out-of-District (In-State)
Texas residents who live outside the PJC taxing district but within the State of Texas.
➡️ Standard in-state tuition rate (higher than in-district).
Out-of-State
Students who are not Texas residents.
➡️ Out-of-state tuition rate.
Residency classification is determined at the time of admission and is based on state guidelines. Students may be asked to provide documentation to verify residency status.
Why This Matters
Where you live affects what you pay. The difference between in-district and out-of-district tuition can be significant over the course of a degree or certificate program.
If you believe your residency status has been classified incorrectly, contact Admissions or Student Records promptly to review your documentation.
The service area reflects PJC’s broader mission to expand educational access across Northeast Texas.
