Student Worker Positions
Work-Study Programs
Federal and State Work-Study Programs provide part-time employment for U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are currently enrolled students and have a demonstrated financial need. Students employed under this program are paid $10/hour and are not eligible for fringe benefits such as unemployment benefits, vacation time, or sick/holiday pay. Students are expected to maintain acceptable work habits to maintain employment.
Work-study awards consist of a pool of funds that the Student receives as they work. Students are paid at their hourly rate every two weeks and may work up to 19 hours per week until their available work-study award amount is earned.
It is possible for a student with a work-study award to run out of available funds, at which point they can no longer work that semester. It is also possible for a work-study student to be awarded and receive no funds if they do not find a work-study position!
Program Requirements:
-
- All students applying for Work-Study positions are required to have a current FAFSA on file with Paris Junior College.
- Eligibility for Work-Study awards is dependent on financial need determined using FAFSA information from the Department of Education.
- Eligible students must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in compliance with Paris Junior College's SAP policy.
- Before beginning their Work-Study employment at PJC, eligible students will be required
to:
- Complete a background check.
- Produce documentation in accordance with Federal requirements (please visit the USCIS's I-9 site for a list of acceptable documents).
Positions listed below may not reflect current availability as hiring occurs over the course of a semester. The most current list of available positions is available in the Financial Aid office on the Paris Campus. All students applying for Work-Study positions must contact the Financial Aid department before applying in order to verify their eligibility for the award!
