Dean of Business and Industry Development

Responsibilities: This position will have administrative responsibility supervising and coordinating the programs of HVAC, agriculture, business management, computer aided design-3D printing, computer information systems, cosmetology, cybersecurity, electrician, gemology, horology, jewelry, mechatronics, networking, office technology and welding.  The position has responsibility of understanding service area needs of business and industry to assure the workforce needs of the region are met.

Qualifications: Applicant must have a Master's and Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Three years’ experience with higher education and a minimum of five years’ experience working with business and industry development.  Supervisory experience.  Experience and demonstrated skill in planning, budgeting, resource allocations, and in the development of a trained workforce meeting industry needs.  Demonstrate competency in education and administration of business and industry programs.  A strong commitment to innovative teaching and learning and to pursuing the potential of technology to support teaching, learning, and the delivery of instruction.  Skills as an effective oral and written communicator and as a consensus-builder with the ability to bring about constructive change using participatory processes.  Knowledge of and the ability to keep up-to-date on changes in SACSCOC standards and requirements and THECB rules and regulations and the enforcement of those standards, rules and regulations.  Knowledge of and the ability to keep up-to-date on current trends in business and industry.  Ability to assist/guide coordinators in updating the program to reflect current trends.  Skills in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all segments of the College.  Ability to represent the district in a positive, professional manner and to develop working relationships with the community.  Ability to be creative, innovative and willing to take risks to accomplish the goals of the institution.  Knowledge of evaluation techniques and methods and the ability to establish appropriate improvement plans.  Ability to market programs to maintain and build program enrollment.  Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills.

Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Fringe Benefits:  This position covers health insurance at 100% for employee.  Additional optional coverages includes dental, vision, AD&D, life insurance, and long- and short-term disability.  Other benefits include retirement under the Teacher Retirement System of Texas or Optional Retirement Program, accrued sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, and an employee reimbursement/dependent scholarship program.  Health benefits require a 60-day employment period.
