Measles is highly contagious and spreads easily through coughing, sneezing, and close contact. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash.

PJC suggests you take precautions to protect yourself and others:

  • Check your vaccination status. The MMR vaccine is the best defense. Contact your healthcare provider, if unsure. Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) Vaccination | CDC
  • Watch for symptoms. Fever? Rash? Seek medical help and avoid public spaces.
  • Practice good hygiene. Wash hands, cover coughs, and stay away from sick people.

If you’ve been exposed to measles or suspect you have, isolate immediately and contact your healthcare provider. Also, notify your professor by email or phone and avoid coming to campus until a medical professional clears you and provides further instructions. Stay in touch with your professors to stay on track with your coursework during this time.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our campus healthy and safe.
