The softball coaching staff of Paris Junior College has been named the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional leadership and achievements of Head Coach Shelby Shelton, Assistant Coach Taylor Swisher, and longtime program assistant Jack Butler.
Under Coach Shelton's guidance, the Lady Dragons achieved a historic 44-win season in 2025, setting a new program record. The team consistently ranks among the top 10 nationally for team GPA, reflecting the emphasis placed on academic success.
Now in her fifth season at PJC, Coach Shelton has led the program to national prominence, including a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in 2022 and the program's first-ever national ranking. Her accolades include multiple Coach of the Year honors and a history of developing All-American athletes.
In his second year, Assistant Coach Taylor Swisher has significantly enhanced the team's offensive performance and strength conditioning program. His previous coaching experiences at Vernon College and Clarendon College have contributed to his effective coaching strategies at PJC.
Jack Butler, affectionately known as "Mr. Jack," has been an integral part of the Lady Dragons for over two decades. His dedication to field maintenance and statistical analysis has been invaluable to the program's success.
