Presidential Scholars Program

The Presidential Scholars Program at Paris Junior College is an exceptional chance for students to experience much more than a traditional college education. Scholars spend time with the college president, perform service projects, receive a full scholarship, serve as ambassadors and have opportunities to travel.
Benefits of the Program
- Receive a scholarship that pays for tuition, fees, and textbooks.
- Valid for up to 60-credit hours.
- Valid for up to 2 academic years.
- Meet one-on-one with the college president to discuss academic plans, goals, and progress.
- Interact with and gain insight from leaders in the community.
- Engage in College and community events.
- Give back to the community through volunteer activities.
- Become part of a community of other Scholars with whom you can learn and socialize.
- Have opportunities to participate in educational trips.
- Serve as an ambassador of the college at events.
Qualifications
The top 10% of graduates from the most recent academic year in Lamar and Red River County schools are eligible to be a Presidential Scholar. Schools with fewer than 25 graduates, the award will be offered to the top 2 graduates.
Requirements
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maximum of 18 credit hours each semester.
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) and apply for financial aid.
- Maintain a 3.0 semester GPA.
- Follow courses outlined in a specific degree plan.
- Keep good disciplinary standing at the College.
- Participate in all required Presidential Scholar meetings and activities.
