GREENVILLE, Texas — Paris Junior College has launched the Hunt County Board of Advisors, holding its inaugural meeting August 28 at the PJC Greenville Center. The new advisory group will serve as a bridge between the College’s Board of Regents, administration, and Hunt County residents, creating a platform for engagement, advice, and input.
“PJC is more than a college; it is a lifeline for our region and will help drive economic growth,” said PJC President Dr. Stephen Benson. “We know there is a tremendous need for PJC in Hunt County, and this Board allows us to work in a transparent and collaborative manner. This founding group of advisors came with questions, ideas, excitement, and a clear commitment to PJC and the region. I am excited for the future as we learn and grow together.”
The Hunt County Board of Advisors is made up of community leaders with experience in business, education, economic development, and other industries. Members will provide local insight, foster communication, and strengthen partnerships to help ensure PJC continues to meet educational and workforce needs in the area.
Founding members include: Karen Bates, John Dickson, Craig Driggers, Holly Gray, Holli Gumpert, Micah Harris, Brandi Isham, John Kelso, Dr. Denise Morgan, Jeanette Rowland, Kevin Sawatsky, and Kelly Wineinger.
During the first meeting, members elected Dr. Denise Morgan as Chair and Micah Harris as Vice Chair. The Board will meet quarterly, with sessions open to the public to encourage transparency and community involvement. Members will serve staggered two- to three-year terms.
The Hunt County Board of Advisors is part of PJC’s broader strategy to expand engagement across its five-county service area, with a similar board currently being established in Hopkins County.
“Great things are to come for our entire region,” Dr. Benson said. “This Board reflects the community’s voice, and together we will shape the future of PJC and the opportunities it provides.”
