Paris Junior College's Radiology Technology Program prepares students to function effectively in the field of the diagnostic medical radiography.
Radiography is the application of knowledge using a variety of imaging methods in the examination of the body for structural defects and disease processes. Students will gain experience and knowledge through a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical hands on experience. Clinical sites will include surrounding community hospitals and clinics. Some sites are more than 60 miles away from the PJC Paris campus.
The radiology program is a two-year program leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (60 credit hours). The program begins in the Spring Semester, and applications are accepted August 1 through September 30 each year. Graduates will be eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification Examination.
The mission of the Paris Junior College Radiology Technology Program is to meet the needs of the students by offering innovative and comprehensive educational practices which will enable the student to graduate with competence for the practice of diagnostic radiology technology.
The Paris Junior College Radiology Technology program is accredited by an organization known as the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiology Technology (JRCERT), 20 North Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, Illinois 60606-3182, 312.704.5300. Click www.jrcert.org to visit the website for JRCERT.
JRCERT provides accreditation to educational program that provides students and graduates assurance that the educational program will provide them with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to competently perform the range of professional responsibilities expected by potential employers nationwide. It also assures they will be eligible for licensure in each of the 50 states. Programmatic accreditation requires programs to teach the entire curriculum developed by the professional society, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). Programmatic accreditation also assures students will have the foundation knowledge to continue to develop as professionals in the various fields of the radiation sciences.
The Paris Junior College Radiology Technology Program submits annual data to JRCERT. The program data recently submitted to JRCERT are noted below. The general public can also access program effectiveness data reported to JRCERT through the following link http://jrcert.org/resources/program-effectiveness-data/.
Please note the following Program Effectiveness Data for our program:
Graduate follow up surveys are sent to graduates 6 months after graduation. Graduate surveys for the current December graduating class have not been sent so the data below represents classes of 2015-2019.
Credentialing Examination Pass Rate - The number of graduates who are first time test takers within six months of graduation comprise the credentialing pass rate. JRCERT also requires a five-year average credentialing examination pass rate of 75 percent or higher on first attempt within six months of graduation.
YEAR | CREDENTIAL EXAMINATION PASS RATE (%) |
NUMBER OF STUDENTS |
2015 | 64.29 | 9 of 14 students passed on 1st attempt (4 students never applied to test; 2 retested & 1 passed) |
2016 | 69.23 | 9 of 13 students passed on 1st attempt (1 student never applied to test; 2 retested & 1 passed) |
2017 | 86.67 | 13 of 15 students passed on 1st attempt (1 student never applied to test; 2 retested & passed) |
2018 | 90.00 | 18 of 20 students passed on 1st attempt (1 student retested & passed) |
2019 | 70.59 | 12 of 17 students passed on 1st attempt (1 student retested and passed) |
5 Year Average | 76.16% (76%) |
Job Placement Rate - The number of graduates employed in the radiologic sciences, within 12 months of graduation, compared to the number of graduates actively seeking employment in the radiologic sciences. JRCERT requires that a job placement rate should not be less than 75 percent.
YEAR | JOB PLACEMENT RATE (%) |
NUMBER OF STUDENTS |
2015 | 94 | 16 of 17 students actively seeking employment (1 student not actively seeking employment) within 12 months of graduation |
2016 | 85.71 | 12 of 14 students actively seeking employment (2 students not actively seeking employment) within 12 months of graduation |
2017 | 100 | 17 of 17 students actively seeking employment within 12 months of graduation |
2018 | 95 | 19 of 20 students actively seeking employment within 12 months of graduation |
2019 | 76 | 13 of 17 students actively seeking employment within 12 months of graduation |
5 Year Average | 90.14% (90%) |
Program Completion Rate - The number of students who begin the program divided by the number of original cohort of students that actually complete the program. The JRCERT measures this annually and on a five-year average.
YEAR | COMPLETION RATE (%) |
NUMBER OF STUDENTS |
