Electrical: Residential Wiring

This course covers basic residential electric circuits. Topics include load calculations and safety in electrical work, installation of wiring, conductors, raceways, load protection, ground fault, and other residential circuit requirements. Course Outcomes: Lab recommended; identify basic safety procedures when using or installing electrical equipment in a residence; review the role the NEC and other organizations play in residential electrical installations; discuss the importance of licensing and procurement of permits; read, interpret, and understand residential electrical drawings and job specifications; calculate the total electrical load of a residence, the wiring methods used the size of conductors, the number and type of circuits required in a residence; identify the use and placement of electrical safety devices (GFCIs, etc.); determine the grounding requirements and OCP for service entrance, and branch circuits; and install three-way and four-way switching.
