Section: Women's BasketballLady Dragons CoachesHead Coach Sean LeBeauf
LeBeauf has a rich coaching experience. He led the girl’s basketball team at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla., to a city championship in his first coaching position. While there, he also coached the Tulsa Rebels Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) boys team. That team won the national AAU title in 1997 and finished fourth in the nation the following year. During this time, LeBeauf was nominated for the Sallie Mae Award that recognizes the Elementary/Secondary First Year Teacher of the Year. From there, LeBeauf relocated to Louisiana where he coached at Destrehan High School (1998-99) and Archbishop Shaw High School (1999-2003). While at Archbishop Shaw, he helped lead the team to back-to-back state championship appearances. His squad won the state title with a record of 34-6 in 2000 and finished as 2001 runners-up with a 31-5 mark. LeBeauf moved on to a stint at Paris Junior College, helping Coach Bill Foy and the men’s basketball team to a runner-up finish in the Region XIV tournament (26-7), one win shy of going to the NJCAA National Tournament and at that time the best record in school history. He then moved on to Centenary College in Shreveport, La., for one year. The next four years, prior to coming to PJC, was spent at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. While there, the men’s basketball team won a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship and the 2006 Historical Black Colleges and Universities National Championship. “I’ve been presented with a great opportunity to return to a place where I enjoyed a lot of success in a short time,” LeBeauf said. “I’m moving to women’s basketball and looking forward to the challenge. What better place to embark on a new journey than such a place as Paris, where the people care so dearly for their students and student athletes. I’m looking forward to representing this campus and this community.” Assistant Coach Darryl Ellis
Ellis started his coaching career as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Avondale High School in Avondale Estates, Ga. In the 2007-08 season he served as assistant men’s basketball coach at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. Ellis earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. He graduated from Westfield High School in Houston, Texas. These entries also may interest you: |
