Scholarships

Paris Junior College (PJC) offers scholarships to qualifying students through the PJC Memorial Foundation – Established by the Alumni & Friends Association, funding numerous endowed scholarships.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per fall/spring semester.
  • Must complete the FAFSA (or TASFA for non-U.S. citizens).
  • Must be admitted to PJC.
  • Apply online even if FAFSA delays occur—FAFSA is required before funds are disbursed.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered, and notifications will not be sent for missing information.

Students must be admitted to Paris Junior College and have received a PJC ID before applying for most scholarships.

  • The PJC General Scholarship Application becomes available once a student completes the admissions application.
  • The scholarship application link is included in the welcome email sent after admission is submitted.
  • Students should apply even if their FAFSA or TASFA is still being processed.

Dragon Promise Program

The Dragon Promise helps recent Lamar County and Red River County high school graduates attend PJC with tuition and mandatory fees covered for up to 60 credit hours.

How Dragon Promise Works

Dragon Promise is a last-dollar program. That means it covers what's left after your other aid is applied:
  1. Your grants come first. Federal and state grants, such as the Pell Grant, are applied to your tuition and mandatory fees first. This is why completing the FAFSA is required.
  2. Your scholarships come next. PJC Foundation and outside scholarships are applied after grants.
  3. Dragon Promise covers the rest. Any remaining balance for tuition and mandatory fees is covered by Dragon Promise.

What this means for you 

If your grants and scholarships already cover your tuition and mandatory fees, Dragon Promise may not add a separate award. You're still protected — whatever your other aid doesn't cover, Dragon Promise fills in. Dragon Promise does not cover books, supplies, housing, meals, or transportation.
 

Who's Eligible

  • Graduated from a high school in Lamar or Red River County during the most recent academic year
  • Admitted to PJC with a student ID
  • Completed the PJC General Scholarship Application
  • Completed the FAFSA or TASFA

How to Keep Your Dragon Promise

  • Start in the fall semester right after high school graduation
  • Enroll in 6–18 credit hours each fall and spring semester
  • Take courses in your declared degree plan
  • Finish your degree or certificate within 5 years

Summer classes

Dragon Promise covers summer tuition only when summer courses are required for your program.
