Withdrawing from Classes
Withdraw From a Class
Withdrawing from a class allows you to stop participating in a course after the Official Reporting Date (ORD) and before the published withdrawal deadline. When you withdraw, you will receive a grade of “W,” which does not affect your GPA but may impact financial aid, academic progress, and future enrollment.
It is your responsibility to submit your withdrawal request by the deadline listed in the College Calendar.
How to Submit a Withdrawal Request
Students must submit a withdrawal request through MyPJC.
Steps:
- Log in to MyPJC
- Select the Student tab
- Click Reports and Forms (left-side of page)
- Scroll to Forms (in the middle of the page)
- Select the Withdrawal Form
- Complete and submit the form
Your withdrawal becomes official on the date the request is received and processed.
Important Deadlines
- You may withdraw from a course beginning after the Official Reporting Date (ORD) and before the published withdrawal deadline. (see the college calendar for the proper date of withdrawal)
- Withdrawal requests submitted after the deadline will not be approved.
- Courses offered in shorter sessions have withdrawal deadlines based on their individual schedule. Refer to your course syllabus.
Financial Aid, Veterans Benefits, and Scholarships
Withdrawing from a course may affect your:
- Financial aid eligibility
- Veterans benefits
- Scholarship eligibility
- Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Students receiving financial aid or veterans benefits are strongly encouraged to speak with the Financial Aid Office before submitting a withdrawal request.
Students receiving scholarships should consult with their academic advisor before withdrawing.
Instructor Approval
After the schedule change period ends, instructor approval may be required for certain withdrawal requests. Students are not permitted to withdraw after approximately 75 percent of the course has been completed.
Note: Some courses at Paris Junior College are offered on a less than a semester-length basis and end prior to the end of the semester. For such courses, a student may withdraw as scheduled in the course syllabus.
Developmental Courses
Developmental education courses follow specific state and institutional guidelines:
- Students who do not attend before the Official Reporting Date may be dropped by the instructor.
- Withdrawing from a developmental course may also result in withdrawal from the paired college-level co-requisite course.
- Students are encouraged to speak with an advisor before withdrawing to understand the academic and financial implications.
Withdrawing From All Classes (Complete Withdrawal)
Withdrawing from all enrolled courses during a semester is considered a complete withdrawal from the College.
Students completing a full withdrawal remain responsible for any outstanding tuition, fees, or fines.
If you are considering withdrawing from all classes, please contact Advising & Counseling to discuss your options and develop a plan for future success.
